Typeform's free plan is now 10 responses a month
Typeform's free plan allows 10 responses a month across all your forms — a figure stated in their help centre rather than on their pricing page. The forms still work and the builder is unchanged, but the cap arrives fast: at ten responses, a free Typeform is a demo rather than something you can run a project on.
What actually changed
The free plan's monthly response allowance is 10, across all of your forms combined. Everything else about the free tier is generous by comparison — unlimited forms, most question types, logic with branching and calculations. The single number that decides whether a plan is usable is the one that isn't.
The detail that catches people is what happens at the cap: the form closes. Response eleven does not silently vanish into an overflow bucket you can unlock later — the person who clicked your link sees a closed form. If the link is in an email signature, a support macro, or a printed QR code, that is a bad look you find out about from someone else.
Worth noting for anyone checking the numbers themselves: Typeform's public pricing comparison starts at the Basic plan, so the free tier's cap is documented in the help center rather than on the pricing page. The figures in this piece were checked against typeform.com/pricing on 13 August 2026.
What ten responses a month means in practice
A live lead form hits it in a day
Any form connected to real traffic — a contact form, a demo request, an event signup — will pass ten in the first day of a decent campaign. The free plan is now suited to trying the builder and running a form past a handful of colleagues, which is a legitimate use, just not the one most people were using it for.
The cap fails loudly, not quietly
Because the form closes at the limit, the failure lands on your respondents rather than in your dashboard. If you stay on the free plan, treat the cap as a hard deadline and watch the count, particularly on forms whose links live somewhere you cannot easily update.
The first paid step buys back the old free plan
Basic is $28 a month billed annually, or $39 month to month, and includes 100 responses a month — the allowance the free plan used to have. For a small project that number is the whole decision: $336 a year to get back to where you were.
The features people assume are standard sit higher up
Removing Typeform branding starts at the $56 a month tier and payments at the $91 a month tier on annual billing, and a custom domain is Enterprise-only. If your reason for leaving the free plan is branding or payments rather than volume, the cost is several times the headline price.
Why this happens, without the outrage
A free tier is marketing spend, and response caps are the cleanest lever a form company has: they scale with how much value someone is getting, they are easy to explain, and they do not require taking features away. When a company decides its free tier is attracting users who will never convert, the response cap is the first thing to move.
Typeform's product bet has been consistent for years — highly designed, one-question-at-a-time forms sold to teams with budgets. A ten-response free tier is a coherent expression of that bet, not a mistake. It is only a problem if you were relying on the free tier for something it is no longer meant to support.
The honest question is not whether the change was fair. It is whether the tool is worth its price for what you do. If you are sending a well-designed survey to a customer list twice a year, Typeform at $28 a month is defensible and switching costs you a week you did not need to spend. If you are running an always-on lead form, the maths looks very different.
The honest options
Including the ones that do not involve us. Competitor figures verified on 13 August 2026.
Stay and pay
If you are already invested — brand-matched forms, integrations wired up, a team that knows the builder — and 100 responses a month covers you, Basic at $28 a month annually is the least disruptive answer. Migration is not free either, and a week of someone's time is worth more than the subscription.
Google Forms, if free and unlimited is the requirement
It is genuinely free with no response cap, and for internal surveys, class quizzes, and signup sheets it is the right tool and we will say so. What it cannot do: take payments natively, remove Google branding on any plan, use a custom domain, or branch per question — its logic sends people to a whole section based on a multiple-choice or dropdown answer, and that is the limit of it.
Tally, if you want unlimited responses with a bit more polish
Free is unlimited responses and includes Stripe payments at no charge, which is unusually generous. Removing branding and using a custom domain both need Pro at $29 a month ($24 annual), and there is no native scheduler if your forms end in a booking.
Jotform, with a caveat worth reading twice
The free plan is 100 submissions a month across five forms, but it also has a 500-response total storage cap, and exceeding it deletes your oldest response. That is a different kind of limit from a monthly allowance, and it is the one that surprises people. Branding removal starts at $39 a month, custom domain is Enterprise-only.
Zunoform, if you want the conversational format without the cap
The free plan is 500 responses a month with unlimited forms and no card, including conditional logic, quiz scoring, file uploads, the scheduler with Google and Outlook sync, Google Sheets, Zapier, and webhooks. One-question-at-a-time is a layout switch. Removing branding and taking payments through your own Stripe or PayPal — with no cut taken by us — is $14.99 a month.
If you decide to move
Whichever tool you move to, do these three in this order.
Export your responses first
Data you have already collected is the only irreversible part of a migration. Download it as CSV and store it somewhere that is not the tool you are leaving, before you change anything else.
Import the form definition
Zunoform's Typeform importer takes the form's link plus a personal access token from your Typeform account and pulls the question structure across. It copies the form, not the responses — that is what step one is for. There are Google Forms and Jotform importers too.
Repoint the link, then check the mobile view
Update wherever the old link lives — email signatures, help articles, ad destinations, QR codes — and leave the old form live but closed for a short overlap. Then fill in the new form on a phone before you send anyone to it, because importers carry questions across faithfully and layout decisions less so.
The bottom line
Ten responses a month is a trial, not a plan, and it is reasonable to be annoyed if you built something on the old allowance. It is also worth being clear-eyed: if Typeform is doing a job for you that nothing else does, $28 a month is not a scandal. Switch because a different tool fits your work better, not because you are cross.
Questions people ask
How many responses does Typeform's free plan include?
Ten per month across your whole account, per Typeform's help centre as of 13 August 2026. When a form reaches the cap it closes, so further respondents see a closed form rather than the questions. It is widely reported that this was reduced from 100 in early 2026, but Typeform publishes no changelog entry for the change and typeform.com is excluded from the Wayback Machine, so that history can't be independently verified.
What is the cheapest paid Typeform plan?
Basic, at $28 a month billed annually or $39 month to month, which includes 100 responses a month. Removing Typeform branding starts at the $56 a month tier, payments at the $91 a month tier, and a custom domain is Enterprise-only.
Is there a free form builder with unlimited responses?
Google Forms is free with no response cap, and Tally's free plan is unlimited responses including Stripe payments. Both have real limits elsewhere — Google Forms cannot remove its branding, take payments natively, or use a custom domain, and Tally puts branding removal and custom domains on its $29 a month plan.
Can I move an existing typeform to another tool?
The questions, yes — Zunoform's importer pulls a form's structure across using its link and a Typeform personal access token, and there are importers for Google Forms and Jotform as well. Responses do not come with it, so export those to CSV from Typeform first.
Does Zunoform's free plan have a response cap?
Yes: 500 responses a month, with unlimited forms, one seat, and no card required. Conditional logic, quiz scoring, file uploads, the scheduler, and the free integrations are all included at that tier.
